Netflix is many things. Convenient, overwhelming, and occasionally determined to hide every horror film you actually want to watch. Their algorithm has a habit of recommending the same five titles on rotation, as if you haven’t already seen The Ritual twelve times.

Fortunately, the House Keeper has recently discovered a little‑known workaround. A strange, slightly archaic workaround that feels like it shouldn’t exist in 2026, and yet here we are: Netflix secret codes.

These codes unlock hidden genre menus the platform doesn’t show you by default. Think of them as the back‑corridors of the streaming labyrinth. Dusty, under‑used, and full of things the House Keeper keeps getting excited about (or at least, things we imagine she’s excited about, given we’ve never actually seen her truly excited about anything).

To get started, simply log into Netflix, head to the search bar, and instead of typing the name of the title you’d like to watch, type in one of the category numbers below. It’s that easy. And hey presto! You’re suddenly faced with a whole new spread of films beyond the same five you’ve been seeing on rotation for weeks.

Be warned, though: you may find yourself spending more time in front of the TV than before. We won’t tell if you don’t.

The House Keeper briefly suggested creating our own code system for the archive. She was talked down once it became clear she intended to assign numbers based on “emotional threat level” rather than published date. Probably for the best.

A few highlights for the House’s fellow wanderers:

Horror Movies — 8711
Supernatural Horror — 42023
Psychological Horror — 4809
Satanic Stories — 6998
Found Footage — 1522234
Cult Horror — 10944
Creature Features — 6895
Zombie Horror — 75405
Vampire Horror — 75804
Werewolf Horror — 75930
Deep Sea Horror — 45028

There are plenty more codes to be found, but these are the ones the House recommends. So go ahead, open the hidden doors, wander the back corridors, and see what Netflix has been keeping tucked out of sight. The House Keeper will be somewhere nearby, taking notes.
