There’s something quietly thrilling about discovering a physical magazine you didn’t even know existed, especially when it speaks directly to your love of the eerie, the uncanny, and the beautifully strange.

And that’s exactly what happened to the Housekeeper last week. She popped out for milk and returned home with not one, but two unexpected treasures: Haunted and Cursed & Creepy Destinations.

She was, admittedly, slightly annoyed at herself for not discovering them earlier. How had these little portals to the paranormal been sitting on shelves all this time without her noticing? But better late to the party than never arriving at all, especially when this particular party is dark, quiet, and almost entirely lacking the living.

Haunted

Haunted first appeared in 2009, beginning with an unusual “Issue 0”. A playful, paranormal sampler that mixed ghost‑hunting personalities with pop culture oddities. Since then, it has grown into one of the UK’s most established paranormal magazines, now reaching Issue 50.

Its focus is broad: hauntings, supernatural folklore, ghost‑hunting equipment, interviews, strange photography, and the occasional tongue‑in‑cheek nod to the absurd. It’s glossy, modern, and surprisingly fun. The kind of magazine that treats the paranormal with curiosity rather than gloom.

Cursed & Creepy Destinations

Says what it does on the tin. Cursed & Creepy Destinations is a newer arrival, part travelogue, part folklore digest. Instead of focusing on hauntings themselves, it leans into places: abandoned towns, cursed landscapes, eerie ruins, myth‑soaked forests, and locations where history has left a strange residue.

The current issue explores over 200 haunted places you can visit across the globe. Two hundred. That’s practically a lifetime’s holiday calendar ready to go, assuming you don’t mind your vacations being a little darker, a little quieter, and occasionally accompanied by things that don’t appear on the tourist map. (Chances are you don’t if you’re reading this).

What Makes Them Different

Haunted is about experiences: hauntings, investigations, ghost stories, interviews, and supernatural culture. Cursed & Creepy Destinations is about places: eerie landscapes, cursed sites, abandoned structures, and folklore‑rich travel.

One explores the living (or at least, the almost‑living). The other explores the land that holds their echoes. Together, they make a perfect pair. One telling you who haunts, the other telling you where they linger.

When They’re Released

Haunted Magazine releases new issues several times a year, usually seasonally, arriving just often enough to keep the paranormal conversation alive without overwhelming your shelves. Cursed & Creepy Destinations follows a similar rhythm, with quarterly releases that line up neatly with travel seasons and themed editions.

Both are irregular enough to feel special, but frequent enough to keep the strange world turning and, more importantly, not completely break the bank.

In Closing

We haven’t seen much of the Housekeeper since she brought the magazines home. Every now and then she pops out of the drawing room for a cup of tea, muttering about something she’s read. A cursed village here, a haunted lighthouse there, the sort of things that make you wonder whether she’s planning a trip or simply communing with the wallpaper.

She mentioned she might follow up with a more detailed review of one of the articles, but we haven’t pressed her. She’s been in there for days now, lost somewhere between Issue 50 and a map of abandoned towns. The cobwebs in the grand hall are getting ambitious, but we’ll give her a little longer. Inspiration takes time, especially when the reading material is this haunted.

We’ll report back once she emerges. Hopefully with notes, and not with something trailing behind her.
